Lapis Light Yoga: Let the body move from inertia to conscious freedom
Lapis Light Yoga does not require people to give up control, nor does it require people to completely surrender their bodies to their feelings and move however they want.
On the contrary, it is a learning process that re-establishes the ability to use the body: allowing the originally unconscious habitual use to gradually become conscious perception and choice, and finally the body is integrated into a new ability that does not require constant control.
See the "compensation and inertia" accumulated over the years behind the action
Many people think that just because they can stand, walk, bend, or raise their hands, it means they know how to use their body. But most of our actions actually come from the inertia accumulated over the years. When certain muscles are not awakened, the body will use other parts instead; when joints lack stability, the surrounding tissues will be tightened to protect them; when a person is in a hurry to complete the movement, the consciousness often only stays in the external posture, but loses the perception of breathing, strength and internal changes in the body.
Over time, it may seem that we have completed the action, but our body may have been using the same set of compensation methods. The places that are commonly used become more and more tight, and the places that are not used become more and more silent, and even gradually lose the clear connection with the nerves and brain. This is why, even though some people work hard, they still can't find the feeling of exerting force correctly; even after doing a lot of exercise, their bodies still suffer from recurring pain or imbalance.
The real "consciousness" is to let the consciousness return to the body
Therefore, the teaching of Lapis Light Yoga is not without standards, nor does it only require "feeling comfortable". It has corresponding body structure and muscle cooperation principles, leading practitioners to identify: Where is exerting force at this moment? Is this power really needed? Are the muscles that should be involved involved? Is the body replacing a familiar tightness with a capacity it has not yet established?
The "consciousness" mentioned here does not mean using the mind to control the body harder. When a person focuses too much on "how do I do it" and "I must do it right", the body easily enters a state of waiting for instructions, breathing becomes stagnant, and movements lose the overall flow. Conscious use is to bring awareness back to the body, and through breathing, feeling and movement, re-identify where the power comes from, how it is transmitted, and how the various parts of the body work together.
Three stages of Lapis Light Yoga learning
The first stage | Perceived inertia: See the compensation and habitual force patterns accumulated over the years.
The second stage | Conscious establishment: Through breathing and awareness, re-guide muscles and nerves to establish new ways of use.
The third stage | Integration into abilities: After repeated practice, the new collaboration path becomes a new instinct that the body can naturally adjust.
The learning of Lapis Light Yoga will go through three stages: first, perceive the original inertia, then consciously establish new ways of use, and finally let the body integrate the new collaboration path into capabilities. At the beginning, the exercises may require more concentration and guidance; but the real purpose is not to monitor every muscle for a lifetime, but to allow the new method of use to become a natural choice for the body after repeated practice.
So what Lapis Light Yoga pursues is not "better control", but giving the body more choices. When the originally disconnected areas are re-perceived, the sleeping muscles are gradually awakened, and cooperation between them is re-established. The body can no longer rely on the old tightness and compensation to complete its movements.
What Lapis Light Yoga wants to bring to people is exactly this path: from unconscious inertia to conscious perception and use; and from conscious practice to new abilities that the body truly possesses. In the end, we not only learn to complete an asana, but learn to live in our own body again, understand it, use it, and let it gradually regain its ability to continuously adjust and update itself.
If you also want to get rid of the vicious cycle of getting tired more and more and compensating unconsciously as you practice, welcome to Tanya’s Awakening Sanctuary. Let professional teachers accompany you, starting from the perception of inertia, to reconstruct the body's neural cooperation path, and to find your natural freedom.
Too tired to move? In addition to dynamic yoga, you can also choose static "Singing Bowl Sound Therapy" to cool down the nervous system.
