You Think You Are Looking for Love, but You Have Always Been Searching for "Yourself"
by Elena | Founder of Lapis Light System
Yearning to be understood, validated, loved, and chosen.
Consequently, we easily mistake "how others perceive me" for "who I am."
When others draw near, you feel worthy.
When others step away, you doubt your existence.
When misunderstood, you scramble to explain, prove, and appease,
even disowning your own feelings in the process.
Yet according to the Lapis Light System,
true agony is never that others fail to know you.
It is that:
you have never truly gotten to know yourself.
Many imagine self knowledge means cataloging personality traits, hobbies, zodiac signs, or moods.
Yet the self knowing spoken of in Lapis Light is never mental intellectualization.
It is this:
do you truly sense,
what is unfolding inside your living body?
Do you know:
Why anxiety grips you so easily?
Why you constantly suppress your needs in relationships?
Why, despite striving tirelessly, emptiness persists?
Why you are terrified of slowing down?
Why you crave being needed?
Why a single rejection feels like the collapse of your entire universe?
Many dismiss this as mere personality.
Yet in the Lapis Light System,
this is the survival conditioning accumulated in your tissues over time.
Some learned early on that love was conditional on performance.
Growing up, they mistake endless giving for proof of worth.
Some grew up with their emotions unreceived.
As adults, they instinctively flee feeling, retreating into cold cerebral analysis.
Some grew up amidst oppression, micro control, or neglect.
Their bodies developed defenses:
pleasing, armor, control, hyper independence, hyper rationality, hyper sensitivity...
Over time, these patterns convince you:
"This is who I am."
Yet in truth,
they are merely protective strategies,
forged so you could survive.
Real self knowledge is not becoming better at self analysis.
It is whether you can begin discerning:
what is not your authentic self.
The founder of Lapis Light believes:
true awareness does not mean relentlessly deciphering the outer world.
It means returning to the body, witnessing:
"Through what patterns is my body living right now?"
How to Assess: Do You Truly Know Yourself?
1 | When You Settle into Stillness, Does Anxiety Arise?
The moment many pause, they reach for their phone, seek tasks, or hunt for chatter. Because what they fear is not boredom.
Once stillness descends, inner unease and void begin to stir.
If you cannot abide quietly with yourself,
it signals you have yet to meet your authentic essence.
2 | Do You Do So Much Out of Joy, or Out of Fear of Being Worthless?
Some study incessantly, care for everyone, overwork, and strive endlessly.
It appears ambitious and driven,
yet their body is continually exhausted.
Because what fuels them is not passion,
it is:
"If I stop producing, I will no longer be worthy of love."
3 | Do You Always Lose Yourself in Relationships?
Do you:
- * Constantly accommodate others?
- * Fear disagreement and confrontation?
- * Swallow grievances habitually?
- * Obsess over other people's shifting moods?
- * Collapse into self doubt when rejected?
If so, it reveals that you are fundamentally estranged from your own feelings.
You are trained to perceive everyone else, yet have never truly sensed yourself.
4 | Do You Truly Know What Your Authentic Feelings Are?
Many reflexively utter: "I am fine."
"It is alright."
Yet when genuinely asked: "What are you feeling right this moment?"
They have no idea.
Those who chronically stifle their emotions gradually sever communication with their bodies.
And Lapis Light maintains:
When you lose somatic connection, you slowly lose your authentic self.
Lapis Light Methodology:
True Self Knowledge Is Not Thinking, but "Returning"
Many attempt to know themselves through cognitive thinking.
Yet genuine transformation must return through the body.
Because your physical form chronicles every emotion, relationship,
trauma, repression, and survival pattern you have ever lived.
Knowing yourself in Lapis Light is not about becoming superior.
It is practicing:
When emotion surfaces, not fleeing immediately.
When triggered in relationships, not scrambling to control or flatter.
When pain appears, daring to pause and feel.
Gradually, you begin to discern:
what is fear,
and what is the true self.
When someone begins truly knowing themselves,
they may not suddenly become euphoric.
Yet they will become profoundly stable.
Because they no longer depend on external eyes,
to arbitrate their value.
They can rest grounded within, knowing:
"Even if the world misunderstands me, I know who I am."
The hurting, scarce identity you assume you are might not be who you are at all, but conditioned ancestral imprints stored in the tissues. Before walking away, read this article to see through the illusion:
