You Think You Are Working on Your Body, but You Are Not
You can achieve stability, standard alignment, and project confident control.
Yet if you truly pause and ask yourself one question:
Are you genuinely "inside"?
You might discover that you are not. You are simply highly skilled at controlling.
Muscle is the easiest tissue to control. It obeys commands, can be conditioned, and can be sculpted. You use it to sustain postures, uphold performance, and maintain an outward illusion of stability. Over time, you mistake this control for "being inside the body."
The True Body Is Not on the Surface of the Muscles
It hides in the places where you feel no sensation. Those areas you assume are rigid, blocked, or lacking flexibility are often not due to inadequate effort, but because you have never truly entered them. Lacking sensation, you resort to sheer force in an attempt to change them.
Fascia Cannot Be Controlled, It Only Remembers
It remembers when you began swallowing your tears, holding back responses, and choosing to ignore your own sensations. Those unacknowledged experiences do not vanish; they settle deep into tissues, becoming unexplained blockages.
Thus you keep training, adjusting, and striving for perfection, yet certain spaces never open. Not because you lack dedication, but because you perpetually bypass them. You bypass discomfort, fear of losing control, and the self that cannot be parsed by logic.
Until that moment when you truly cease striving. Not to achieve anything, but simply dwelling within a posture. When impatience, restless urges to leave, or irritability arise, it is not a flaw, but a clear sign: you are drawing near to yourself.
It is simply that in ordinary life, you seldom stay. True somatic awareness is not inherently soft; it brings into view the dimensions you long avoided. Yet only there does the body begin to open gently: not wrenched apart by force, but opening willingly on its own.
The Process of Returning Is the True Practice
When you shift from sheer control to receptive feeling; when you no longer rush to escape, but remain willing to linger: you discover that the body has been here all along, awaiting your long overdue return.
And that return journey is the true practice.
You do not need to push harder.
You only need to:
Stop running away.
